Resonance 104.4fm. Radio emissions. Sound or noise and nothing compares, ever

Only we can bring down the barriers, finding resonance in the transcendent nature of radio, at once local and global, of London Bridge, Southwark, London, England, the UK and Europe but yet drifting free of a passport.

I have been collaborating with Resonance FM for nearly three years, as a volunteer editing programme material to be aired, keeping an eye on legal guidelines and latterly operating as a continuity link between, and desk-engineer of, live programming on the station.

It is a unique distillation of unlikely broadcasts, some of which you would think were unlikely to be heard on the radio at all, some which are unlikely to be heard sharing the same station and some of which have been heard before on more conventional audio outlets and then took refuge in Resonance when the capricious winds of commercial radio ratings or a change in taste at public radio pushed them overboard.

In order of most likely method of listening, Resonance streams 24 hours a day on www.resonancefm.com and via the Nokia Internet Radio application on phones like the N95. The station has an FM transmitter in the grounds of Guy's Hospital in the London Bridge area of the city. Below is a map of our statutory coverage area, known as an MCA or a TSA.

Nonetheless, if you are anywhere in London you could hear the station. The frequency is 104.4 FM, or just to the left of XFM. There are no plans for Digital Radio (aka. DAB)

Click here to see whether you can pick up Resonance on 104.4 FM

It is also worth noting that the studio complex on Borough High Street, about 5 minutes walk from the transmitter and 15 minutes from the Royal Festival Hall where Resonance FM first aired as part of the Meltdown Festival on London's South Bank, is only 1 year old. For the majority of the station's 10 year life, they have broadcast from Denmark Street in the West End of the city.

That transition is humourously illustrated by this YouTube film. It will also hopefully give you guys who have no idea about London geography a sense of where they were and where they are now.
